I started to tune in and make plans for a dream life ... marking out on my authentic antique 70s spinning globe with back-light feature and faux mahogany stand (the equatorial region was a bit obscured as I had to stick the two halves of the world together with sellotape) all of the 84 countries on 7 continents I would let the Universe take me to ...
One of those places was Japan to visit the Samurai museums, eat sushi and seaweed and to see how a katana blade is forged ...
Like an idiot, upon leaving Tokyo for Singapore, I got to Narita Airport a day early - I hadn't read the round-the-world ticket properly.
Rather than waste a day in the departure lounge I whipped out my credit card and paid £500 for a day in South Korea - why not? I might never come back this way again. In Seoul I got on a bus to visit the infamous 'Demilitarised Zone' between the communist North and Bill Gate's South.
On the bus the tour guide asked 'Who wants to visit North Korea?' and I was the only one who put my hand up. Hence Photo 2 - that's me in North Korea.
And was it worth 500 quid?
HELL YES - and a WHOLE lot more! 👊❤️☀️
