I smile at the morning sun everyday to show gratitude for this amazing opportunity called 'life' ...
It's also a good reminder that if life doesn't feel so amazing then it's up to us to take responsibility and change our thinking ... turning every negative into a positive, for example ...
If we can change our thinking then we can start to change our actions and subsequently our future ...
We go from being in victim mode to becoming an active participant, empowered, and that's a much more reassuring place to be as you are no longer feel hopeless ...
In my first memoir 'Eating Smoke' you can see this change developing in me and in the follow up 'Forty Nights' when I start putting this into action ...

Ps. the photo is from my overland trip driving a busload of volunteer journalists to India and back from Norway so that we could write articles about communities that live in poverty. It was me 'giving something back' and seizing life by the horns after my own struggle in the darkness.
