When it all seems too much for you, don't reach for that negative stimuli. You are part of the universe. Go within yourself, meditate and be mindful of your actions.
How do I meditate? You don't need mats, candles, body positions and mantras. Go to a quiet place. Close your eyes and calm your thoughts. When a thought starts running in your mind, shut it off and start again. We call this the 'monkey-mind' as your thoughts swing from branch to branch. Eventually, you will be able to clear your mind of everything. First for a few seconds, then a minute, then minutes and further. Total void without distraction.
When you 'come back' to this perceived reality, it will feel as though life just 'rushed back' into your mind.
Having 'mindfulness' is putting all our concentration into every task, whether meditating, washing the pots or fixing a major job at work. This clears our minds of everything else. Yesterday doesn't exist, tomorrow doesn't exist. Only 'this' moment does. Use each moment wisely, stay focused and positive.
